Some Traditional Rulers, representatives of over sixty communities that earn their livelihood through Orashi river have solicited the assistance of Media Giant, DAAR Communications Plc, to demand for justice from the exploitation and deprivation meted out to them by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company NAOC, an international Oil Company situated at Obirikom, ONELGA Rivers State, South South Nigeria.

The host communities’ Paramount Rulers made the plea when they paid a courtesy visit to the Port Harcourt Zonal Headquarters of the media outfit.

In a bid to avoid looming communual crisis between Nigerian Agip Oil Company NAOC and its host communities, over the pollution of their sources of livelihood with hydrocarbon sludge into the Orashi river for the past thirty seven years without adequate compensation, representatives of the over sixty host communities of the Oil Multi-nationals have paid a courtesy visit to the Port Harcourt Zonal office of DAAR Communications Plc to solicit support to fight their course.

Head of Centre, DAAR Communications Plc, Mrs Remi Olu-Akerele assured the NAOC host communities’ leaders that as the fourth estate of the realm, DAAR will have a good symbiotic working relationship to drive home their demands for justice.

The group under the aegis of Orashi River Communities have threatened to totally shut down operations of Nigeria Agip Oil Company NAOC, Obirikom with a peaceful protest to demand for their rights.
