Port Harcourt Kidnap: Resident doctors seek immediate release of Doctor Ganiyat Popoola

The Association of Resident Doctors at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital UPTH, has appealed to the Federal Government, and Security Agencies to intensify effort for immediate release of one of their members, Ganivat Popoola, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in kaduna State since December 2023.

President of the Association, Noble Mbooh, made the plea during a peaceful protest at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH, premises in Port Harcourt.

Doctor Ganivat Popoola was kidnapped in kaduna since December 2023.

The protesting Medical Professionals say they are disturbed that their colleague is still being held in captivity for over seven months.

They expressed concerns about the unwarranted targeting of medical professionals whose primary duties are to save lives.

The President of the ARD UPTH, Noble Mbooh, and other members are therefore demanding the immediate unconditional release of Ganivat Popoola to enable her to reunite with her family.

These medical doctors attribute insecurity to the bane behind the brain drain in the country.

The Resident Doctors said if nothing is done to release Ganivat Popoola, they may resort to an industrial action .
