Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned and remanded in police custody over allegations bordering on assault, theft, and resisting arrest.

Portable was brought before the Federal High Court Ota, Ogun State, on Monday January 12, 2026 where he faced a nine-count criminal charge.

The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the charges which included assault, causing harm, theft, and obstruction of law enforcement officers.

The singer’s arraignment followed a viral video where Portable was held in police custody, following a complaint reportedly filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.

Prosecutors told the court that on New Year’s Day, Portable allegedly attacked Ashabi Simple, alongside several police officers and other individuals, at his pub located in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State.

Other victims named in the charge included Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.

The singer was also alleged of stole a Mercedes-Benz E300, valued at ₦12 million, belonging to Ileyemi Damilola.

In court, were two siblings of Ashabi Simple who testified as witnesses to the alleged assault, although Ashabi herself was not present during the proceedings.

Police investigation alleged that Portable obstructed and assaulted a female police inspector Olayemi Ogungbe, while she was carrying out her official duties.

Ruling on the matter, the presiding judge denied Portable bail, citing absence of the alleged assaulted police officer in court.

The judge insisted that the officer must be present before any bail application can be considered.

Hence Portable has been remanded in police custody and the case has been adjourned to January 19, for fresh bail consideration.
