The Innovative Action for School Feeding Programme, launched in two primary schools in the Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State, targets to address the rising cases of malnutrition in the state and at the same time aid in improving the cognitive development of school children.

The programme, which is being implemented by ActionAid Nigeria, is being funded by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, with 800 children as beneficiaries in its first phase.

According to the implementing partners, the World Bank data indicates that an additional four million Nigerians have fallen into poverty in the last year, an addition to 133 Nigerians already living in poverty.
