One hundred and fifty youths in Northeast Nigeria have received training in Vehicular Diagnostics and Maintenance skills as part of strategies to end poverty in the Zone
The training is organized by the Northeast Development Commission, (NEDC), in collaboration with Digital Bridge Institute, Yola.
The move by the Northeast Development Commission to train 150 mechanics in digital skills, is a deliberate attempt to address the social and economic anomaly, which if left unattended to, will worsen crime rate in the zone, and by extension, Nigeria.
According to the Managing Director of the Northeast Development Commission, (NEDC), Muhammad Goni Alkali, the trainees were drawn from across the northeast states of Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno.
They were presented with starter packs at the graduation ceremony.
The Chief Executive Officer of Digital Bridge Institute, Yola, Professor Muhammad Ajiya, had in an address of welcome, called on state governments in the Northeast, to support programmes that will reduce joblessness among the youths.
The Chief Instructor, Engineer Salihu, in his keynote address, urged the trainees to extend the knowledge acquired to other youths in their localities.
The Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Mallam Bashiru Ahmad, represented by the Commissioner for Entrepreneurship, James Iliya, challenged the youths to avoid restiveness and get involved in vocational skills.
