Some members of the Senior Citizens of Nigeria have advocated for policy formulation, that would sustain the current efforts of the Federal Government, in taking care of the elderly in society.
The senior citizens made the plea in Bauchi, during an interactive session with a Non-governmental Organization, to identify some of their challenges.
Senior Citizens are an association of elderly men in society, most of whom are retired from private and government agencies.
Some of them were invited for this interactive session with a Non-governmental Organization, in collaboration with the Office of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
According to them, they are retired but not tired, as they are still useful in society.

Lack of finance and proper recognition in some public places to access services have been identified as major challenge.
While commending the Federal Government for the assistance given them, they said more could be done as they called for the Formulation of effective policy.
They believed that if this policy is put in place by the Federal Government, it will go a long way in reducing the sufferings of most of them, make them self-reliant.
