An attempted coup is underway in the West African nation of Guinea as the President, Alpha Conde Studio has been taken into “custody” by soldiers.
A special elite military unit had surrounded the Presidential Palace amidst heavy gunfire in the Kaloum Peninsular of the capital, Conakry, which also houses government ministries.

Soldiers have sealed the bridge linking the area with the mainland, and there are reports that three soldiers have been killed.
In unverified footage, president Conde who was in a controversial third term last year, is seen surrounded by soldiers who asked him if he was unharmed, to which he did not he respond.
The soldiers have said Guinea’s land and air borders have been closed and that the government has been dissolved.
The coupists who have appeared on State TV also say they have suspended the constitution
The West African regional body, ECOWAS is yet to comment on the reported attempted coup.
