President Muhammadu Buhari has described Sunday night’s attack at Auno, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, by persons suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents, as cowardly and murderous.

He was speaking in Maiduguri, where he visited to commiserate with the people and government of Borno State, over the incident, where about 30 innocent stranded travelers were killed, including a University of Maiduguri Mass Communication student, who was burnt to death.

The President arrived the Nigerian Air Force Base, Maiduguri at about 1pm, from Ethiopia, where he attended the African Union Summit and had a one day state visit. He was received by Borno Governor Babagana Zulum.

The President restates the commitment of his administration, to protect the lives and property of Nigerians and bring insurgency in the North East, to an end.
