President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed optimism that he will return Nigeria to its pride of place as the giant of Africa before the expiration of his tenure on May 29 next year.
Buhari who made this known when he paid Sallah homage to the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmuminu Usman said, Nigerians should be grateful as compared to what other African countries are facing.

The sallah homage to the Emir of Katsina was the climax of the President’s one week visit to his home town of Daura in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria for this year’s Eid El Adha celebration after been away for about one year.
According to President Buhari, peace is the bedrock of any development promising to do all it takes to ensure there is security of lives and property.
He urged terrorists and other persons disturbing the peace of the country to desist from the act or meet their waterloo.
The President said, his administration will keep doing its best to ensure they salvage the country and return it back to its pride of place as the giant of Africa.
He also promised to deliver a credible, free and fair election in 2023 without interfering in the processes just as he did with the party politics of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC during the presidential primaries.
The Emir thanked the President for the visit saying, if Nigerians should put sentiments aside, they will know that he has been doing his best to tackle the insecurity bedeviling the country blaming terrorists’ informants as the cause of the prolonged delay in winning the war.
While thanking the President for converting the Federal Medical Centre Katsina to a teaching hospital, the royal father also appealed for the timely completion of the 10 megawatts wind mill power project at Rimi and the completion of the Kano-Katsina dualisation project, the railway to Maradi in Niger Republic and University of Transportation among other laudable projects which will bring about development and job creation to the teaming youths in the state.
He therefore urged Nigerians to be patient and keep praying for President Buhari to successfully complete his tenure with outstanding achievements.
Also speaking during the visit, Governor Aminu Masari said, kudos should be given to the President as, Nigeria is enjoying relative peace compared to other African countries especially, in the Sahel region.
President Buhari has since returned to Abuja after his one week sallah vacation to his home town of Daura, in Katsina State.
