In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President said he is not in need of cheques or kickbacks from contractors or businessmen urging those into such practices to go and assist various communities in need by way of Corporate Social Responsibility.
The President also noted that he would have loved to visit Daura more frequently, but for the high cost of presidential movements and exposing security personnel to the weather, but assured that his heart remains with the people.
He said, the monies for such travels and expenses should rather be used to better our schools, clinics and hospitals.
Buhari further said the grace of God had kept Nigeria together as a country in spite of differences that led to the 30-months civil war and promised to keep the country as one under his watch.
In his remarks, the Emir of Daura, Umar Farouk thanked the President for always creating time to visit his hometown and the palace despite the tight schedule.
The Emir said the President must remain focused in getting results particularly in securing the country stressing that, the country is lucky to have him as the president.
At the meeting, the Emir publicly announced conferment of the title of Talban Daura on the son of President, Yusuf Buhari whose turbaning ceremony is slated for a later date.
The Palace used the opportunity to clarify the difference between the title of Talban Hausa given to Guinean President, Alpha Conde and that of Talban Daura designated for Yusuf, the President’s son.
The Emirate explained that Daura, as the core of the Hausa society had conferred titles that have bearing on the Hausa Kingdom and those that are specific to the Emirate.
