President Bola Tinubu has charged Team Nigeria to compete with courage, honour and integrity at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, urging the athletes to uphold the nation’s values and make the country proud through fair competition.
The President, who spoke through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, during the Presidential Send-off Ceremony at the State House, Abuja, urged the athletes to remain disciplined, patriotic and united, stressing that while winning medals is important, winning clean is even more important.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu reminded the athletes that they were not only representing Nigeria in competition but also projecting the country’s values on the global stage.
He urged them to avoid actions that could tarnish the nation’s image and called on them to compete with discipline, fairness, and respect for the rules.
