President Tinubu Commends Nigeria-China Relations

President Bola Tinubu has commended the Chinese government for the support it has rendered Nigeria in its diplomatic endeavours.

The President acknowledged the support of China in Nigeria’s quest for prominent position in the G20, United Nations Security Council, and the Inter Governmental Organization of Developing Economies among others.

The President made the observation when the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Chen Xiaodong, visited the State House on Thursday

The President commended the partnership between Nigeria and China.

“For us, it is a new beginning with you. A relationship that has lasted over 50 years and must be nourished, nurtured, and promoted.

Our mutual commitment to the values of labour, understanding, and development is very important. I am very happy that President Xi Jinping is paying attention to Africa as a whole and our developmental needs,’’

President Tinubu commended President Xi Jinping for consistently strengthening relations with Nigeria and Africa.

“We believe in our bilateral relations, and we want to strengthen that. I am glad you mentioned United Nations, BRICS, and the G20. This is the largest economy in Africa.

President Tinubu added that the infrastructure need of Africa is monumental, particularly that of Nigeria. adding that china has good technology that can be transferred.

“You have a good opportunity to make an indelible mark on Nigeria. We have a very vibrant youth population, well-educated, and ready to learn. Skill development programme and transfer of knowledge is extremely important,’’

In his remarks, the Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs said he was in Nigeria to brief the President on the invitation extended by President Xi Jinping and the itinerary of the state visit.

Xiaodong commended the President for his strategic vision, leading role in ECOWAS and Africa.

The Chinese Envoy described President Tinubu as an important leader and a strategist in Africa and believe that his meeting with President Jinping will open more discussions and opportunities for Nigeria and Africa,’’
