President Bola Tinubu has been criticised for failing to honour workers’ invitation to Labour Day celebration since his inauguration in 2023.
President of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities , SSANU, Mohammed Haruna who made the criticism said the president is becoming one of the country’s worst leaders due to his seemingly unfriendly and poor-workers relation.
He said the President’s policies which have not been so proven to be pro-people and pro-poor explain the reason for his absence at such an important and global event as Workers’ Day.

Haruna, who doubles as National Internal Auditor of the Nigeria Labour Congress, also criticised the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and state governors, who have degraded workers event by sending third tier representations.
The SSANU President also sent warnings to university management and officials of the Federal Ministry of Education not to disburse the announced 50 billion naira earned academic allowances to favour ASUU.
Meanwhile, ASUU, CONUA, and other unions have said they are yet to receive the widely publicised money released.
