President Bola Tinubu says it is imperative for Nigeria to embrace technology, innovation and a knowledge-based economy as a pace-setter on the African continent.
President Tinubu said this during the inauguration of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex, BATTIC at the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Technology Innovation centre, named after president Bola Tinubu is to enhance National Security and efficiency of the country’s Migration and Border Management processes.
The Data Complex comprises the Command and Control Centre (regular migration), NIS Data Centre, ECOWAS Biometric Card Production Centre, Interior Data Centre and a 0.5KW Solar Power Plant.
The President says the Technology Innovation Complex is a dream come true, and a confirmation that Nigeria is making progress under his leadership.
The Data Complex, which is the first of its kind in Africa, is said to be a significant step forward in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.
The facility will utilise cutting-edge technology to ensure seamless data management, storage and analysis thereby enabling the NIS to efficiently manage migrant records as well as ensure border surveillance and control.
