President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after spending the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos State, South-West Nigeria where he participated in a series of political, governmental and national engagements.
The President arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 5:17 p.m. on Tuesday and was received by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, and other senior government officials.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President hosted several delegations during the holiday period, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and members of the National Assembly led by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio as part of the traditional Sallah homage.
The statement added that members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, also paid a visit to the President, alongside APC stakeholders from Oyo State and party candidates from Lagos State.
While in Lagos, President Tinubu attended the International Fleet Review at the Eko Atlantic City Waterfront to mark the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.
During the event, he commissioned three naval vessels, NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila and NNS Gurara, as part of efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of the Navy.
The President also held talks with the President of Benin Republic, Romuald Wadagni, in a meeting aimed at deepening bilateral relations, regional cooperation and economic partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
The statement further noted that before the Eid-el-Kabir holiday, Tinubu participated in the All Progressives Congress, APC primaries held in Lagos State and secured the party’s presidential ticket for the 2027 election following what it described as overwhelming support from party members nationwide.
With his return to Abuja, the President is expected to resume official engagements and continue overseeing government activities from the nation’s capital.
