President Bola Tinubu has approved the renaming of the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Azare, to Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi University of Medical Sciences.
The President announced the decision during a condolence visit to the family of the late revered Islamic leader in Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, APC governors, ministers, and other top government officials, is visiting for the first time since the passing of the renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
Tinubu who could not attend the burial, had the vice president Kassim Shettima represent him two weeks ago.
But the president is finally in Bauchi state, to personally express his sympathies to the family.

President Tinubu described the late Islamic leader as a man of honesty, integrity, and exemplary character, whose life and teachings remain worthy of emulation. He noted that Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was a true patriot who loved Nigeria and contributed immensely to national unity and development.
In recognition of his significant contributions, particularly in the propagation of education and Islamic scholarship, the President approved the renaming of the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Azare, in honour of the late Sheikh.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, and the son of the late Sheikh, Bashir Dahiru, commended President Tinubu for the concern and compassion shown to the family and the people of Bauchi State, describing the visit as deeply appreciated by the entire state.
Special prayers and Qur’anic recitations were offered for the repose of the soul of the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
