In the just concluded clemency exercise to decongest all custodial centers in Delta state, the chief judge of the state, Justice Theresa Diai has released 37 inmates from the 5 custodial centers across the state.
The chief judge accompanied by the state’s attorney general and commissioner for justice, Isaiah Bozimo, reviewed a total of 1,830 cases presented before the committee by the correctional service command, and approved the release of 37 inmates.
The inmates, all males, have spent over two years on awaiting trial.

They include 9 from the Warri custodial center, 5 from Agbor, 17 from Ogwashi- Uku, 4 from Sapele while non was released from the Kwale custodial center.
In their good will messages, both the Delta CJ and the Comptroller- General of corrections, Haliru Nababa, urged the released inmates to avoid criminal behaviors that could jeopardize their freedom.
