A Pro-Democracy group, Citizens’ Democratic Movement is calling on the Nigerian judiciary to be transparent and credible during the election petitions tribunal process to punish those frustrating the efforts in achieving credible polls.
The group, in a media conference in Abuja, through its Conveners, a senior advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba and a former member in the 7th Nigerian Senate session, Shehu Sani ask the Justices of the Court of Appeal and particularly the Supreme Court to rise up to the occasion to restore the People’s confidence in the processes that were allegedly abused by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and unpatriotic politicians.
The human rights group says Nigerians have been pushed to the brink of impatience from the outcome of the 2023 elections marred by irregularities and may not be able to tolerate any injustice arising from the election petitions tribunals but the Judiciary still has the time to correct the Mistakes of the past.

The group reminds the legal bodies that Nigeria’s democracy was earned on the blood and sweat of many Nigerians who have paid the supreme price and their sacrifices must not go to waste.
The Human rights activists urge Nigerians to stay focused as Citizens with vested interest in the survival of a healthy democracy bonded by nationalistic conscience with full consciousness of historical experiences to rally behind the recent electoral reforms as contained in past and recent Electoral Act.
They announce their partnership with the Nigeria Labour Congress, the Trade Union Congress and other human rights organizations with like-minded political organizations to serve as an alert mechanism for the Conscience of Nigerians and Defenders of Nigeria’s Democracy by engaging key national institutions, especially INEC, the judiciary, legislature and the security services squarely to resist the vicious and corruptive pressure from those State Operators and political class, who insists on a total takeover and control of relevant State Organs.
