Residents of Odigbo community say they will resist any attempt to impose a non-indigene as Caretaker Chairman in the newly created Odigbo Local Council Development Area, LCDA in Ondo State, South-West Nigeria.
The aggrieved indigenes who took their peaceful protest to the Palace of the traditional ruler of the community described the plan as unfair, and against fairness and justice.
The protest is part of the controversy that trailed the creation of new LCDAs in recent weeks. There were similar protests just few days ago at the public hearing organised before creation of the LCDAs was passed into law by the State House of Assembly. The protests by different groups and communities were over the demography and alleged ceding of land to another LCDAs.

This time around, Odigbo indigenes, in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state across political divides are out to express dissatisfaction over alleged planned imposition of a non-indigene as Council Chairman by some government officials.
The natives which include the Orunja of Odigbo Kingdom, Oba Rufus Adegboyega while calling for calm advised that fairness and justice be considered to sustain the existing peace in the area.
The aggrieved indigenes of Odigbo Local Government, say they will resist any attempt to impose a non-indigene on their Council, with a view to protecting their ancestral land and heritage.
