Several motorists and commuters have been left stranded, as youths in their numbers have blocked the ever-busy Katsina-Kankara-Yantumaki highway, in protest over the incessant bandits’ attack in the area.

A source said the youths came out as early as 6:am burning tires and blocking the highway, which left many travellers stranded, as no vehicle was allowed to pass through.

According to him, the protest was also triggered as a result of the killing of 2 persons the previous night in a bandits’ attack on the Amarawa community.

The highway leads through to Kaduna and connects to Abuja and other parts of the country.

5 persons, including the Village Head of Mazoji Yalwa Papu, were said to have been killed, while many houses were razed in a fresh bandits’ attack on some communities in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas of Katsina State on Saturday, August 14.

The attacks which occurred at about 8:50 pm saw the bandits rustling many animals, while they burnt houses and other properties.

They also injured many, who are currently receiving treatment in the Hospital.

There was, however, no official statement from the police as of the time of filing this report.
