Protesting Joint Action Committee members, Imo State University demands backlog of salary arrears

The Joint Action Committee, IMO state university has called on the Imo State government to pay the outstanding salaries owed members.

The body which comprises NASU, NAAT, and SSANU in IMO state university with their placards made the call during a peaceful protest in Owerri, I’m State capital.

While expressing grievances over their plight, the over six hundred and seventy-five staff including retirees of the university are demanding for immediate payment of their salaries

According to the protesting staff, non payment of 5-month salary arrears has brought untold hardship to them.

They also complained about inadequate funding of the University, loss of University autonomy, non payment of allowance and benefits.

Responding to the demands of the group, the IMO state commissioner for information Declan Emelumba refuted the allegations saying the claim is to sabotage government
