Cross River State Governor, Bassey Etu

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has charged federal lawmakers representing the state at the National Assembly to see their positions as a call to service and not a platform for personal enrichment.

The governor made the remarks during a town hall meeting where Ministries, Departments, and Agencies presented their two-year scorecards.

At a town hall meeting aimed at fostering transparency and deepening democratic engagement, Governor Bassey Otu emphasized the need for federal lawmakers from Cross River State to remain accountable and focused on delivering people-oriented projects.

He reminded the lawmakers that their mandate was rooted in service to the people and urged them to prioritize initiatives that have direct impact on the lives of the people.

Speaking on behalf of the federal legislators, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, who represents Cross River Central Senatorial District, assured the people of their commitment to democratic values and responsive representation.

The lawmakers, comprising two senators and eight members of the House of Representatives, also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the key national projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the student loan initiative, which they said would significantly benefit Cross River State.

They further applauded Governor Otu’s developmental strides, particularly in the areas of infrastructure rehabilitation and project completion, describing them as impactful and visible across the state.

The lawmakers say engagements like these are crucial in bridging the gap between government and the people, as Cross River continues to align with national development goals while addressing local needs.
