INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Mutiu Agboke has disclosed that a total sum of four hundred and seven thousand, one hundred and sixty five PVCs are currently in custody of the commission, with only one thousand and thirty two collected so far between December 12 and 17, 2022.

The REC gave this figure at a sensitization rally held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, where those yet to collect the PVCs were encouraged to do so within the allocated time for collection.

To change this trend, the Commission went on sensitization campaign across the length and breadth of Osogbo, the state capital.

The campaign started from the INEC office at Abere at 10.50am local time through Gbongan Road to Olaiya, Workers Drive, Oja-Oba, Post-Office Road and all other strategic places to create awareness for voters to come for their Permanent Voter Cards PVCs to enable them vote candidates and party of their choice.

Addressing residents at some of the places visited, the state resident electoral commissioner of INEC, Mutiu Agboke decried the low turn out at PVC Collection centres , hence the reason to bring the awareness to doors of eligible voters to come in large number for the collection of their PVCS.

Agboke said despite the low turnout so far regarding the collection of PVC by eligible voters, the commission remains committed to the 2023 general elections having received a total of 5,306 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines.

On the safety of INEC equipment and staff, he said security has been beefed up at all INEC offices across the state.
