The Nigerian Association Of The Blind wants the Central Bank Of Nigeria, CBN, to suspend all financial policies and directives that discriminate against persons with disabilities.
The National President of the association, Ishiyaku Adamu, who advised during a News Briefing to commemorate International Disability Day, said the CBN must also apologize to the over thirty-one million Persons With Disabilities, for excluding them from benefitting from financial and other economic empowerment programmes.
Adamu noted that the policies and programmes of the apex bank, limit the economic aspiration of persons with disabilities, and create unnecessary barriers to meeting the target of sustainable development goals in Nigeria.
The group also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure its members are not disenfranchised during the 2023 General Elections.
The association of the blind also called on all its registered members, to ensure they come out en masse to vote for the candidates of their choice.
