In a bid to ensure quality service delivery to its teeming listeners, the General Manager of the Broadcasting Corporation of Niger State, Radio Niger, Mohammed Kolo, has appealed to the Niger Region of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, for a dedicated energy supply to both the transmission station and the office complex.

Kolo made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Chief Business Officer of AEDC Niger Regional Office in Minna, Samuel Odekina.

The general manager of Radio Niger, Muhammed Kolo, who just assumed office recently, noted that with 7 other radio stations under him, the need for a stable and consistent electricity supply to the station is key.

Accompanied by some top management staff, Kolo said they were at the AEDC office to appeal for more supply of electricity, at least 10 hours per day.

The general manager emphasized his commitment to repositioning the radio station to effectively serve the entire state by providing information, education, and entertainment and effectively playing its agenda-setting role for the public.

The Chief Business Officer of AEDC, Niger Region, Samuel Odekina, granted the general manager’s request saying that the company aims to provide Radio Niger with 12 to 16 hours of power supply daily.

On the issue of a non-consistent supply of electricity, Odekina blamed the situation on the current weather conditions and season.

According to the AEDC, electricity customers cannot be deprived of energy saying that energy cannot be conserved, and any released power must be utilized effectively.
