Over 200 houses have been destroyed by flooding that has devastated villages across Argungu Emirate in Kebbi State, North-West displacing many residents.
The disaster occurred following heavy rainfall on Saturday and Sunday, affecting villages in Bayawa, Tiggi, and Fakon Sarki Settlement. Also affected is the Kebbi State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority area office.in Argungu town.




Victims of the flood rendered homeless are currently seeking temporary shelter in schools.





Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Umar Abubakar Tafida, visited the affected areas to assess the damage and offer support. He directed an immediate assessment of the affected houses and instructed the compilation of a list of victims and their lost properties.
Tafida also ordered the evacuation of people to nearby schools for their safety and provision of emergency assistance. He provided N5 million to each affected village as initial support. He also donated N1 million for the purchase of food and drinks for the displaced persons.
