The Kebbi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, (NUJ), has distributed Ramadan food packages and cash, to families of deceased journalists.
The 22 families of deceased members received 25 kg bags of rice and N10,000 each.
The state’s chairman of NUJ, Bello Sarki, said in the last ten years, Kebbi has lost 22 journalists in the course of duty, arising from illnesses and other causes.

He expressed gratitude to individual donors, organisations, and the Kebbi State governor for their support.
Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmad Birnin Kebbi, commended the NUJ for its magnanimity, and assured that the government would continue to work harmoniously with journalists.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, and representatives of media outfits in the state.
The NUJ disbursed N80,000 each and 2 bags of 15 kg rice to the six chapels of the council in Kebbi, and increased its monthly allocation to each chapel from N18,000 to N30,000.
