President Bola Tinubu on Monday evening received state governors and other senior government officials at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for a Ramadan Iftar dinner.
The annual fast-breaking event, held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, marks the third consecutive year the President has hosted governors during the holy month of Ramadan.
Governors who arrived at the Villa ahead of 7:00 p.m. included Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Babagana Zulum (Borno), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Mohammed Bago (Niger), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Bassey Otu (Cross River).
The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State was also in attendance.
Also present at the dinner were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and several members of the Executive Council of the Federation.
The Iftar forms part of President Tinubu’s Ramadan engagements, during which he traditionally hosts political leaders and key stakeholders for prayers and reflection.
In previous gatherings, the President used the occasion to stress national unity and selfless leadership.
At the 2025 edition, he urged governors and ministers to prioritise the welfare of citizens, admonishing them to “do more for your people.”
The President is expected to host additional Iftar dinners with traditional rulers, members of the diplomatic corps, and other senior officials as Ramadan progresses.
In previous years, former President Muhammadu Buhari also hosted leaders of the National Assembly, the Judiciary, and party stakeholders for similar Ramadan engagements.
Details of Monday’s meeting were still emerging as at the time of filing this report.
