As the completion date for the first-ever flyover in Benin City draws closer, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has intensified inspection of the famous Ramat Park project to ensure quality and timely delivery.
During a tour of ongoing road projects across the Benin metropolis, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the pace of work at Ramat Park. He noted that the redevelopment plan goes beyond easing traffic congestion, adding that the area will be transformed into a centre for leisure and tourism.
Turning Edo State into a massive construction site was one of Governor Okpebholo’s major campaign promises. He pledged to tackle the poor state of infrastructure through aggressive development across the State.
One year and four months into his administration, the Governor says he is pleased with the progress made so far, stressing that the visible transformation reflects his commitment to improving the lives of Edo people.
At Ramat Park, Governor Okpebholo walked through the entire stretch of the flyover to personally assess the level of work done. He also inspected the ongoing flood control channels designed to address perennial flooding along the Ramat Park axis.
He reaffirmed that the project will not only solve traffic challenges, but also reposition the area as a modern recreational and tourism destination.
From the Ramat Park, the Governor proceeded to Sapele Road, making his first stop at the site of the second flyover project at Adesuwa junction. He further inspected other road projects along Sapele Road linking several communities, as well as the reconstruction and flood control works at the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Church Road in Ugbokhoko.
Governor Okpebholo urged contractors to intensify work and ensure substantial progress is made before the onset of the rainy season.
