The re-arraignment of a former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde on a 17-count criminal charge suffered an adjournment at the instance of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

The re-arraignment which was supposed to kick off today was adjourned to April 19 due to the failure of the ICPC counsel Henry Emore to serve the 8th to 11th defendants comprising Ojerinde 3 sons and one daughter-in-law their criminal charges.

ICPC had arraigned Ojerinde on July 6, 2021, on an 18-count charge bordering on alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of N5.2 billion while in office.

When the matter came up on Friday, counsel for ICPC, Henry Emore pleaded with the court for an adjournment to enable them serve the 8th to 11th defendants on their criminal charges.

Counsel for the defendants, Ajibola Bello, while informing the court about the re-arrest of ojerinde by the ICPC was cut short by the judge who said their plea cannot be heard without the presence of the 8th to 11th defendants.

Justice Inyang Ekwo adjourned the case to April 19 and said there would be consequences if the 8th to 11th defendants fails to appear before the court.

Ojerinde who was re-arrested on January 26 this year will spend another 26 days from today in ICPC custody before his re-arraignment on April 19.

He had, through his counsel sued the ICPC, seeking an order to enforce his fundamental rights, following his re-arrest and his subsequent detention.
