Reece James has made three big promises after he was named as Chelsea’s new captain.
The England defender replaces Cesar Azpilicueta, who left Stamford Bridge this summer to join Atletico Madrid.
However, in a post via his Instagram account, James promised to do everything he can to help lead Chelsea in the right direction, back to where they belong and win titles.
He wrote, “Captain of Chelsea. A real honour and proud moment for me and my family.
“This club is all I’ve known for the past 17 years. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone who has helped me on the journey to achieve this.
“The role is new to me, but I’ll do everything I can to help lead our club in the right direction. Back to where we belong. Winning titles. See you at the Bridge on Sunday.”
Meanwhile, it would not be an easy task for James to accomplish after Chelsea finished in the second half of the Premier League table last season.
