President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former President Goodluck Jonathan, and other national leaders mourn the late Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing his death as a great loss to Bayelsa State and the nation.

They spoke on Friday at the interment service of the late Deputy Governor at his hometown, Ofoni, in Sagbama Local Government Area of the State
The final journey home for Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, began amid grief and solemn reflection.

At St. Paul Catholic Church, Ofoni mourners gathered in deep sorrow to bid farewell to a leader remembered for service and integrity.

In his homily, the officiating priest, Hyacinth Egbebo eulogises the late statesman, urging political leaders to uphold good governance and calling on Nigerians to reject vote-buying and embrace credible leadership.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, conveys condolences to the Ewhrudjakpo family, the people of Bayelsa State, and the Ofoni community.

Governor Douye Diri thanked Nigerians for their support and appealed to the Catholic Church to consider the creation of a Yenagoa Diocese in honour of the late Deputy Governor.

Late Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, born in Ofoni sixty years ago, served as Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State until his death on December 11, 2025.
