Remo Stars have emerged as champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Daniel Ogunmodede’s team won their maiden NPFL title following a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne,
Olamilekan Adedayo scored the decisive goal six minutes from time.
Remo Stars made history as the first privately owned club to win the title since Udoji United achieved the feat in 1996.
It is also the first time a South West club is claiming the title since the now-defunct Julius Berger won it two decades ago.
It was actually a double celebration for the Ogun State-based football club and a perfect gift as its founder, Kunle Soname, coincidentally marks his 59th birthday on the same day.
After consecutively finishing 3rd position in the 2021/22, and 2nd position in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, Remo Stars finally engraved their name in gold in the history of the NPFL.
The Ikenne-based club is at the top of the table with 68 points from 35 matches.
Second-placed Rivers United have accumulated 58 points from the same number of games.
