Renowned Nigerian Statesman Edwin Clark Dies at 97

A prominent Nigerian statesman and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Edwin Clark is Dead .

Chief Clark died at the age of 97, The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, announced his demise in a statement, appreciating prayers and support during this difficult time.

Clark’s impressive career spanned several decades, with notable roles including Commissioner for Education in the old Mid-Western Region, Federal Commissioner for Information, and Senator in the Nigerian National Assembly.

He was a tireless advocate for fairness, justice, and peace, championing the cause of the Ijaw people and the Niger Delta region.

The Ijaw Professionals Association (IPA) had celebrated Clark’s 97th birthday just months ago, hailing him as a “beacon of hope and inspiration” for generations of Ijaws.

The association praised his unwavering dedication, resilience, and indomitable spirit of service to the Ijaw people and Nigeria.

As news of his death spreads, tributes are pouring in from across the country.

Clark’s legacy as a champion of justice, equity, and good governance will undoubtedly continue to inspire Nigerians for generations to come.

Earlier this morning, A Press invitation had been sent out to journalists inviting them for a News conference at his residence today.

The message reads: “Goodmorning, pls bear with me, it is very sudden, press briefing by Chief Clark at 10am this morning, at his residence”

Edwin Clark’s death comes days after Afenifere leader Ayo Adebanjo’s death.

Adebanjo was aged 96.
