In a recent interactive session with key stakeholders in the Oil and Gas Sector, the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream), has resolved to conduct thorough inspections of all refineries in Nigeria, including modular refineries, aligning with the core mandate of the committee.

Chairing the meeting, Hon. Prince Odianosen Okojie, the Chairman of the Committee and representative of Esan North East/Esan South East in the House of Representatives, highlighted the committee’s commitment to ensuring the efficient and timely completion of the Nation’s Refineries.

He emphasized the importance of reducing dependency on fuel importation through the revitalization of the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries respectively.

During the interactive session with stakeholders in the Oil and Gas Sector, Hon. Okojie assured Nigerians of the committee’s readiness to collaborate with NNPC Limited in achieving the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Nation’s refineries.

He stated the committee’s role and mandate in providing the needed legislative support for the effective and optimal performances of the Nation’s refineries.

Hon. Okojie stated, “activities related to Midstream Petroleum Liquids Operations also include the establishment, construction, or operation of terminals, refineries, pipelines, and transportation networks for petroleum liquids.” Looking ahead.

Hon. Okojie expressed optimism about a significant boost in fuel production, attributing it to the proposed December deadline for the completion of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt plant and the Federal Government’s policies aimed at revamping other dormant refineries.

“This strategic initiative will contribute to economic prosperity and infrastructural advancement, which is the hall mark of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda”, Hon. Okojie concluded.
