In a motion of urgent public importance, Ahmed Satomi lamented the escalating attacks on military formations in Borno and Yobe state, and expressed concern over the fire incident at Giwa Barracks Armoury in Maiduguri, Borno State,
Satomi, in his motion, called for a thorough review of security measures in military installations to prevent similar incidents, expressing deep concern about the escalating attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in the last two months
The lawmaker wants the strengthening of security operations in Borno and Yobe states to protect military personnel and civilians, provision of support and compensation to families of soldiers affected by the incidents.
In their various contributions, lawmakers condemned the rising insecurity across the country and called for an investigation into budgetary allocations by the National Assembly to security agencies
The lawmakers resolved to intensify their oversight responsibilities in the country’s security agencies to forestall the worrisome trend.
The House committees on National Security
Airforce, Defence, and Army were mandated to immediately investigate the cause of the fire incident at Giwa Barracks armoury and other attacks at military formations across the country and report back within four weeks for further legislative action.
