Seven persons have so far been declared missing, and no fewer than 89 houses washed away in a flooding incident that happened in the early hours of Friday, August 30, in two local governments of Mashegu and Magama in Niger State.
The flooding caused by downpour happened in Sabon Pegi in Mashegu Local Government and Nassarawa in Magama Local Government Areas.
The Director-General of the State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Abdullahi Baba-Arah, while confirming the incident, said the downpour lasted 10 hours from 2 am to 12 noon.

Arah, through a statement by the spokesman of the agency, Hussaini Ibrahim, added that the flood affected over 89 houses and three vehicles while destroying hundreds of hectares of farmland.
According to the statement, search and rescue operations are still going on to find the victims.
