The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja will begin an indefinite strike with effect from 8 am on Tuesday, September 1 until their Covid-19 hazard and inducement allowance are paid along with the implementation of the variation of the 2018 promotion exercise.

President of the Chapter, Roland Aigbovo stated this in a communique issued on Monday evening after the Association’s virtual emergency general meeting following the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum given to the FCT Administration dated August 14, 2020.

He observed that the decision followed the insensitivity displayed by the Office of the FCT Permanent Secretary and widespread agitations among members of the Association in the various FCT hospitals and COVID-19 treatment centres.

Aigbovo, who said that the Association regrets any inconveniences this decision might cause the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the general public needing healthcare delivery during this period, he implored the authorities to also look into the other myriads of problems raised in their earlier communication to the administration.
