Some patients and their relatives, especially the less privileged, are stranded at the Federal Medical Centre Katsina, as the indefinite strike embarked upon by the National Association of Resident Doctors continues.

The President of the Association at the Federal Medical Centre Katsina, Doctor Salihu Bolakale, says their members have fully downed tools.

He expressed pity for the patients on admission, as the hospital is gradually becoming what he called a shadow of itself.
Patients were seen being attended to by other health personnel, including the consultants, medical officers, nurses and laboratory technicians, among others.
Some relatives who were aware of the strike, were however seen hanging around the premises of some wards awaiting when their patients will be discharged because of the strike.
Efforts to get the Medical Director of the centre to speak on developments was not successful, as he was said to be holding a crucial meeting which may not be unconnected with the strike.
