Indigenes and residents of the ancient town of Songbe in osun state have decried the neglect by successive administrations, a development they say has deprived them of the needed social amenities.

The residents expressed their pains while addressing Journalists on the need for urgent intervention from the relevant authority.

Songbe is a large settlement in Ejigbo South LCDA, dating back to the 18th century.

Despite having sixteen communities under its jurisdiction, the town has witnessed little or no development since 1999.

The only access road leading to Songbe was constructed during the military era, while electricity was provided through communal efforts.

The community depends on one hand-pump boreholes for water, besides the one constructed by the present administration in 2023.

Chairman, Community Development Association in Songbe, Taiwo Ojetokun appealed to the present administration to extend dividends of democracy to them

The indigenes of the community expressed displeasure that some schools in the area do not have enough facilities calling on the State Government to come to their aid.

They also want the only public secondary school in the town to be upgraded in terms of classrooms and other facilities
