Resident Doctors at the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja, Kogi state, want the management of the facility to immediately reinstate their suspended President, Dr Jimoh Umar.

The Doctors who made the demand during a peaceful protest in lokoja accused the hospital management of gross misconduct and abuse of power

They also complained of shortage of manpower, a factor that has affected effective health service delivery in the State.

This is not the first time the aggrieved doctors will be protesting to draw the attention of the management of the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja led by Dr Olatunde Alabi.

In 2024, the Residents Doctors staged a similar protest against management for what they termed abuse of power, witch-hunting, poor renumeration of staff as well as shortage of manpower among others.

This time, they are carrying placards with various inscriptions asking the hospital management to reinstate their suspended President Dr Jimoh Umar as allegedly directed by the Minister of Health Prof. Ali Pate.

They also want the Chief Medical Director to honour the agreement held in Abuja” on July 18, 2024, where he promised to pay all outstanding arrears of doctors before December 2024.

The Chief Medical Director Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja Dr Olatunde Alabi, Howe however, dismissed the allegations by the protesting Doctors.

These doctors say they will continue their protest until their demands are met by the hospital management to prevent brain drain which has continued to affect the growth of Nigeria’s health sector
