Residents and commuters plying the Ogbagi-Irun Akoko to Ado-Ekiti Federal highway have taken to the streets in peaceful protest, against the deplorable state of the road which they say has become a death trap.

Ogbagi, a rural community in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, where residents are protesting the deteriorating condition of the Ikare-Ogbagi-Irun Akoko road, a major federal highway linking Ondo and Ekiti States.:
According to the protesters, the 40.2-kilometer stretch of road has long been abandoned by the contractor, leaving it in a state of total disrepair.
They say the road has claimed lives, caused serious accidents, and damaged vehicles and property.
Some of the commuters and residents who shared their experiences called on the Federal Government to take swift action in addressing the hardship faced by Commuters.

Reacting to the protest, the Federal Controller of Works in charge of the project, Wasiu Owolabi who spoke off camera appealed for calm, assuring that work is ongoing and will be completed in due course.
It is hoped that after the demonstration,The Federal Government and relevant authorities will act swiftly to alleviate the suffering of the people
