A retired Nigerian Army Captain and psychologist, Professor Muhammad Maiyanci, has called on the Federal Government to allow some persons to hold arms, especially the members of the Civilian Joint Taskforce, JTF, to defend themselves and their communities.

Professor Maiyanci made the call in an exclusive interview with ait.online on the measures to put in place to address insecurity in the state before it gets out of hands.

The psychologist urged the government to checkmate the official and unofficial borders, where arms and ammunition are brought into the state, with a view to stop banditry and kidnapping activities.

He also called on the Nigeria Air force, to bomb all the bandits camps.

Professor Maiyanci who retired as a captain from the Nigerian Army insisted that the citizens and security operatives in the state know the areas where the bandits operate from and said, if, given the required support and power, they will do the needful by launching an offensive against the bandits.

The Psychology Professor then appealed to the Federal government to quickly resolve the current impasse with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU to enable students to return to schools.

Professor Maiyanci also wondered why several states kept the Covid-19 palliatives in their warehouses, instead of immediate distribution to the poor and vulnerable Nigerians, until hoodlums began to loot them across the country.
