The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan has announced the safe return of Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, one day after he was abducted from his residence at St. Gerald Quasi Parish in Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Chancellor of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, Fr. Amos was released unharmed at around 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
His abduction had sparked widespread concern across religious and social communities.
“We write to announce with joy and gratitude to God Almighty the release of Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos,” the statement read.

“Although his abduction caused a surge of worry, the concern shown by people of goodwill, the social media community, various faith groups, and security personnel was overwhelming.”
The Diocese expressed deep appreciation to the local vigilante group, the Nigeria Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) for their roles in the efforts to secure Fr. Amos’s release.
The Diocese also offered prayers for others still in captivity.
