The Commandant General of the Nigerian Forest Security Service, Joshua Adewale, says fifty thousand well-trained personnel are on standby to assist security agencies in safeguarding the nation’s forests from criminal activities.
Adewale made this known in Kaduna, while inaugurating one thousand four hundred personnel, including professional hunters, absorbed into the service, from seven Northwestern states.
The deployment is aimed at tackling the activities of bandits and other criminals operating within the region’s one hundred and seventy-four forest reserves.

It will be recalled that on May fifteenth, 2025, President Bola Tinubu approved the establishment of a National Armed Forest Guard, to secure the country’s one thousand, one hundred and twenty-nine forest reserves.
