The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (rtd), wants members of the newly reconstituted Boards to uphold the highest standards of discipline, competence, integrity, and unwavering dedication in their service to the state.
He emphasised that such commitment is critical to stabilising governance, restoring democratic institutions, and advancing the principles of good governance.
The Rivers State Administrator gave the charge at the inauguration of the reconstituted Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and the 3 other Agencies.
The swearing ceremony is coming after the Senate confirmed the appointments of the Dr. Michael Odey-led RSIEC Board and the other Agencies.
The confirmation of Dr. Odey, who hails from Cross Rivers State, followed the consideration of the report of the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Oversight of Emergency Rule in Rivers State.
The development had led to some Senators rejecting the appointment of a non-indigene to head a sensitive position such as the State’s electoral body.
Addressing the appointees, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas urged the RSIEC Board to restore democratic integrity by conducting a free, fair, transparent, and credible Local Government Areas election.
The day also saw the Rivers State Administrator inaugurate the Boards of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission, the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission and that of the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management.
