Rivers State Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas, has appealed to religious leaders, particularly the Christian Association of Nigeria, to continue preaching peace and promoting unity transcending ethnic and political party lines across the state.
He also appealed to them to stand as advocates of hope at a time when fear and uncertainty seem to be dividing the people.
Speaking when he played host to a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ibas said he is committed to a Rivers State where peace reigns, all voices heard and the dignity of all citizens upheld governance and institutions in Rivers State.

He said he has held serious of meetings with different stakeholder groups, which he described as essential in rebuilding trust, healing divisions, and fostering a spirit of cooperation.
He told his visitors to counsel their congregations towards reconciliation, forgiveness and mutual understanding.
Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Most Reverend Kala Dokubo pledged support for measures that will help bring about lasting peace in the state and expressed optimism that God will intervene in the affairs of the state.
