Election materials for the Ahoada East Constituency 2 bye-election in Rivers State arrived at most polling units in Wards 5, 6, and 10 before 9:00am.
In Ward 5, specifically polling units 5, 17, and 18 in the Edeoha community, voting officially commenced at approximately 9:15am.
Despite the early start, voter turnout remained low during the morning hours. Residents attributed the slow start to a significant portion of the local population being members of the Seventh Day Adventist attending their church service
Turnout for the Ahoada East Constituency 2 bye-election across Edeoha, Ochigba, Obele, and Odiabidi remained sparse for the first few hours.
However, the exercise witnessed an improved response as voting progressed into early afternoon.
Voters blamed the initial delay on the unusual early arrival if you materials; many had stayed away early on, anticipating the logistical delays common in previous elections.
Voters, candidates, and politicians, described the exercise as peaceful, giving the electoral umpire a thumbs up for a near seamless exercise.
Presiding officers at some of the units confirmed that results will be transmitted electronically once voting is concluded, if communication network is available.
