Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara has declared that the state government will no longer approve the extension of the tenure of any retiring permanent secretary in the civil service.
He cautions that if such is allowed to continue, the morale of other rising civil servants qualified to fill the vacant positions will be affected, as there will no longer be opportunities for many of them to rise to the pinnacle of their careers.

Speaking after he swore in six newly appointed permanent secretaries, Governor Fubara announced that as soon as any permanent secretary retires, a replacement will be appointed.
