Briefing journalists in port Harcourt, the Rivers State chairman of Nigeria labour Congress NLC, Comrade Alex Agwanwor and his Trade Union Congress TUC, counterpart, Comrade Ikechukwu Onyefuru, condemned moves by those they described as enemies of the state to instigate violence in order to justify calls for a state-of-emergency in Rivers State.
They called on the state police command to be on the lookout for those who have constituted themselves as agents of destabilisation in the state.
The Organised labour also called on the outgone local government chairmen to accept the fact that their three-year tenure had since elapsed, urging them to allow rivers people to live in peace.
